Our Author of the Half Term is:

Michael Morpurgo!

He is the author of many books for children, five of which have been made into films. He also writes his own screenplays and libretti for opera!

Here are some facts about Michael Morpurgo.

  • Michael Morpurgo was born on 5th October 1943 in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
  • He has written over 100 books.Private Peaceful was his 100th title.
  • After graduating from university, Michael became a primary school teacher in Kent.
  • He writes all of his books in exercise books. He doesn’t work on a desk, instead he sits on his bed, propped up with pillows.
  • His favourite animals are elephants.
  • Some of his favorite authors include: Robert Louis Stevenson, Rudyard Kipling and Ted Hughes.
  • He dislikes the process of editing and rewriting.
  • Michael Morpurgo enjoys watching TV. He particularly likes documentaries.
  • Michael set up the Farms for City Children project with his wife, Clare. It gives deprived urban children a chance to work on a farm and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors in the countryside.
  • Michael was given an OBE in 2006.
  • In 2003 he became the Children’s Laureate, becoming the third person to fulfill the role.
  • He has three children: Sebastian, Horatio and Rosalind, and several grandchildren.
  • He likes listening to Mozart, but he can only write in a silent room.
  • Michael loved French at school and he went on to study this subject at university.
  • He likes eating prawns

We've learnt loads this term about Crime and Punishment through the ages

Living things and their habitats has been our first science topic this term - look at all the amazing things we have learnt.

This term in our e-safety lessons we have looked at cyber bullying. We have also designed, created and debugged our own maze game using Scratch! This also linked with out Design and technology for the term.

Our topic this term is: Crime and Punishment!

We will be learning about crime and punishment through the ages, comparing and contrasting it with modern day society. Have a look at our knowledge planner below.

PE is on a Tuesday and Friday each week.

Tuesday is outdoor PE- Tennis with our tennis coach.

Friday is indoor PE- dance.

Remember to come into school wearing your red PE shorts and school PE t-shirt. Over the top you can wear the school PE tracksuit or plain jogging bottoms with the school jumper.

Everyday, you’ll need to remember to bring in your water bottle, reading record and reading book.


Our Author of the half term

This half term we have been looking at the work of the author Eoin Colfer. Have you read any of his books? If so what was your favourite?
Eoin Colfer (born 14 May 1965) is an Irish author. He is most well known as the author of the Artemis Fowl books. Colfer was born in Wexford in Ireland and still lives there with his wife and children.
