Juniper - Year 6

Welcome to Juniper Class page...

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Year 6 - final year of primary school! I look forward to a wonderful year ahead with you all.

We have our PE lessons every Tuesday and Wednesday. Be sure to come to school in a red pair of shorts, school PE t-shirt and trainers. This can be worn under a plain jogging bottom and school jumper.

You must bring in your spelling pack and reading record into school everyday.

Autumn Term,

Our this term is 'Crime and Punishment'

How has crime and punishment changed through the ages?

Do you think punishments given then were fair? Why?

What did the Romans believe about crime and punishment?

Can you compare both the modern British and Roman justice system with that of the Anglo-Saxons?

In what ways has the legal system worked in Anglo-Saxon Britain?

What were the different punishment methods that were popular during the Tudor period?

Who was Dick Turpin? Can you find out about the life of Dick Turpin based on historical sources?

Can you find out about the experiences of Victorian prisoners?

Compare modern methods of crime prevention and detection with what existed in the past.

Reading Is Fun!

We have lots ‘Star Books’ for you to choose from.

Have you read a good book recently that you would like to recommend?

Why not let Mrs Mutingwa know so I can share it on our class page?

Homework will be now be set on Class Dojo.

There will be a termly menu of themes for you to choose from. You will need to complete two themes from each heading. You can either take a photograph to upload onto Class Dojo or you can upload a film clip, alternatively use the journal function.

You will be assigned an arithmetic test and a maths activity to complete each week too. You must upload your work to your dojo portfolio by Thursday each week to earn your dojo points.

Don't forget to practise your spellings from your word cards as well as read every day and record it in your reading record.
