HAPPY FRIDAY OAK CLASS!
I hope you have all had a good week and you are looking forward to the weekend :D
Have a go at this great game to work on your punctuation. You’ll need to use your KS1 English skills to help the heroes complete all the missions. Good Luck! 😊

Happy Thursday Oak Class! I hope you are all smiling 😊
Did you know that earthworms have 5 hearts?
Thursday Topic - Picture News 1
For picture news we always look at a question and discuss it. It is related to current news in the world. We do this as a whole class and/or in small groups. We then record our answers in different creative ways. What an interesting question this week………..
Should anyone be allowed to buy a pet? What types of animals do people keep as pets?
What do you think? Pick something from the uploaded resources to explore at home. I can’t wait to hear what your ideas and thoughts are.

Let’s start our day with grateful hearts. Can you tell someone at home one thing you are grateful for. I will go first, I am so grateful for my big, fluffy socks that are keeping my feet extra warm! As you know, Mrs Ijad doesn’t like being cold. 😊

Happy New Year Oak Class!
We would like to start by saying huge thank you for all our lovely Christmas gifts. You are all so kind and thoughtful.
We hope you had a lovely Christmas break and you are starting the new year with a smile 😊
We wish we could have you all back in the classroom, we miss you a lot! Hopefully we will be back together soon. Until then we will post different lessons on here for today and tomorrow and then introduce our new learning platform to you on Wednesday. We will try and make it as easy as possible for us all to use! We will be in school every day working with Oak key worker children so we will be available to answer any of your questions or to help you use our new platform.
We look forward to seeing all of you soon.

What a great start to the term. I am really looking forward to another great year together.
Look at our fantastic reading corner this year! Please try and read with your child each evening.
Our topic this term is Towers and Turrets. We have already had a great time looking at castles and how Kings and Queens used to live.
Our Author this term is Lauren Child. Have you read any of her books at home?
Lauren Child is the author of the brilliant Charlie and Lola books, Have you read any of them?
We are very busy recapping and filling in the gaps. The children love phonics lessons and really benefit from extra help at home. Please help your child to work on their sound and word cards at home. We will be working towards the Phonics Screening check in the second autumn term. Attached below is an example of the sort of words your child will be expected to read.
We have big dreams for this year!
we are all going to be SOARING THROUGH YEAR 2 TOGETHER!
Have you tried Times Table Rock stars?
It is great fun and an excellent way to practice times tables. You have your log in details in your reading diary! J
